Transforms Conversation on Diversity and Inclusion

Wednesday, February 6, 2013, marked the reconvening of the prestigious Global Diversity Leadership Exchange (GDLE) at the New York Stock Exchange. Now in its second year, GDLE is a highly anticipated event held annually for senior level executives from blue-chip, multi-national companies, including direct reports in business development; diversity and inclusion; finance; human resources; investor relations; marketing; operations; social media; and corporate social responsibility.  This year, over 150 professionals attended.

MaryAnne Howland, CEO of Global Diversity Leadership Exchange said, “This symposium is not about best practices.  It’s about breakthroughs.”  GDLE’s mission is to facilitate an ongoing dialogue among senior executives and thought leaders who drive global diversity and inclusion in their organizations.

The 2013 GDLE was presented by Pitney Bowes in partnership with Ibis Communications and Racing Toward Diversity Magazine.  Additional event sponsors included: AT&T, General Motors, Toyota, Fox Audience Strategy, and Hewlett Packard.

Following a tour of the New York Stock Exchange, attendees heard keynote speaker Sanjit “Bunker” Roy, founder of Barefoot College, who set the tone for the 2013 GDLE by giving an extraordinary presentation on cultural competency and business relations in our world’s developing countries. Barefoot College is a school in India that educates illiterate grandmothers from rural villages across the world, and teaches them how to become solar engineers and provide electricity for the families back in their communities
